Grants and Internal Controls

Many organizations receive grant funding to provide services and supports to communities in need. Grant funds awarded by government organization must follow rules and regulations established to ensure those funds are used for the purposes for which they are intended. In order to manage grant funds appropriately, it is crucial that subrecipients have the proper framework for internal control to ensure these resources are being utilized effectively and efficiently, assets purchased or developed with grant funds are being safeguarded properly financial and other reporting required by these grants is accurate and timely; and grant funds are being utilized in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations.
