Demographics of Children Served
Of the children served in 2025 25% were 0-5 years old.
Of the children served in 2025 38% were 6-10 years old.
Of the children served in 2025 37% were 11-17 years old.
Many CACs serve children 0-18 and adults with developmental disabilities.
In 2025 Ohio CACs served 7,824 females and 4,095 males.
Nationally 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys are estimated to experience child abuse.
Demographics of Offenders
In 2025 17% of individuals abusing children were youth. Nationwide in 2022, 16% of people alleged to have abused a child were children, and 98% of those that received treatment never hurt another child.
CACs in Ohio reported that in 2025 65% of alleged perpetrators in their cases were individuals that were known to children and 63% of these were family members or significant others. Nationwide, the majority of offenders (77%) are parents. This highlights the importance of child abuse education and prevention in Ohio and nationwide.
