Forensic Interviewer Training for Ohio's Child Abuse Professionals. Maximizing Information, Minimizing Trauma.
For specific training dates and information, please SCROLL DOWN on this page. Beyond the Silence is a 2 1/2 day training for front-line child abuse professionals. Designed for Children's Services Investigators/Social Workers, Law Enforcement Officers & Detectives, Prosecutors, and others that must interview potentially abused children. Topics covered include everything from initial case planning to testifying in court and report writing. Multidisciplinary coordination of services and investigations is highlighted throughout the training. ONCAC reserves the right to admit or deny the admission of any individual or group. CURRICULUM & FACULTYThe curriculum for Beyond the Silence was developed by The Childhood Trust at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for ONCAC, and can be used throughout Ohio. The curriculum is taught by Ohio professionals that have been chosen specifically because of their level of expertise and ability to teach effectively. Trainers include career social workers, law enforcement personnel, and prosecuting attorneys. Trainers are chosen for each location based on the needs of that particular community, and trainer availability. ATTENDING A TRAININGIf you are interested in attending a training, please apply online by scrolling down to the available trainings. You will be given an opportunity to request a specific location. You will be placed on a waiting list, and you will be notified by us when there is an opening. Your application does not guarantee that you will be able to attend Beyond the Silence. . If the training is sponsored by a Regional Training Center (RTC) there will be no fee for law enforcement officers or children services workers. COMMITMENTIt is important that attendees are present for the entire 2 1/2 days of training. Participants should have permission from their supervisors to be entirely devoted while in session, meaning that they should not be on-call, and should not be interrupted for anything short of an emergency.
